It's really a pleasure to write a review of a restaurant like Caffè Propaganda (although I admit that writing negative reviews is more fun than writing positive ones!)
For several years this beautiful restaurant, a few hundred meters from the Colosseum, was looking for its culinary identity. Always in the balance between Roman cuisine and the desire to amaze, Caffè Propaganda has reached a very high standard with original proposals that play with the classics of Italian cuisine, decomposing and recreating flavors and presentations.

When we talk about Caffè Propaganda we can not begin to describe the restaurant that has a particularly original retro style: at the entrance the large counter where cocktails are served (among the most successful of the Capital together with Jerry thomas) and where (up at 11.30-24.30pm on weekends) you can grab some appetizers: bread, butter and anchovies (6), steamed ravioli stuffed with pork n'duja and savoy cabbage (9), liquid tortellini with carbonara (9) or super hamburger (13).

The restaurant area with white tiles from like London's Metro, French bistro couches and elegant lighting.

A restaurant without any doubt very nice.

To the beauty of the restaurant, thanks to the young Chef Fabio Pecelli, we now add a kitchen that amazes for presentation, originality and raw materials.

Let's start with the latter: Caffè Propaganda has its own farmer in Monterotondo that grows organically at the request of the restaurant. To the vegetables of Monterotondo are added high quality products such as Parisi eggs and Normandy butter.

The menu winks at the originality as well as the presentation: beautiful and very good tail crisp (13), excellent polenta (12), egg cooked at 65 ° with artichoke and burrata and cannoli with cod (13).

Fantastic tortelli (all stuffed pasta is handmade with lots of eggs) with smoked beer broth (15), and braised cheek (18).

We stop here because discovering the menu and the creations of Caffé Propaganda's kitchen is part of the beauty of eating there.

The lunch menu is slightly less sophisticated.

Homemade bread is also excellent. Truly remarkable wine list.

In conclusion, the curriculum of the young chef (kitchens that have had to do with the Michelin star as Alloro and Giuda Ballerino) is reflected in every creation of Caffè Propaganda and it was quite a lot that we did not eat so well in Rome. Special place with informal service, a kitchen that amazes and a lot of beauty close to the heart of the Great Beauty: Colosseum, Domus Aurea and Fori Imperiali. Highly recommended, to drink a cockail, to take a fantastic hot chocolate or a tea accompanied by an ovomisù in the afternoon, for a hamburger at lunch or for a dinner of great quality. Do it but do not miss it!
